You may have heard of the plasterboard brand British Gypsum, offering reliable and high-quality plasterboard for a variety of applications. Here at Drywall Pro-Cut, we are proud to offer bespoke British Gypsum deflection heads which can be customised to your exact specifications.

What is a deflection head?

A Deflection Head is utilised to allow for movement (up, down, or both) within the structure at the head of the partition. This movement (or deflection) is created by live and dead loads on the floor or roof above.

Although of course deflection heads can be made from a variety of materials, British Gypsum plasterboard is one of the most common and readily available.

Gypsum or plasterboard: What’s the difference?

It may first be worth establishing what gypsum board is, and how this differs from plasterboard. The truth is that gypsum board is – according to ASTM C11 – “the general name for a family of sheet products consisting essentially of gypsum”.

Plasterboard is formed of a compound called calcium surface dihydrate, or “gypsum”. All in all, gypsum board is essentially synonymous with both plasterboard and drywall. The main difference between drywall and gypsum is that gypsum is a mineral containing water. Drywall on the other hand does not contain any. This is important to know when considering the fire resistance of a material.

Advantages of British Gypsum brand plasterboard

Deflection Head Customisation

Here at Drywall Pro-Cut, we are proud to offer British Gypsum deflection heads in a variety of board types including Fireline, Glasroc and Coreboard. As well as the type of board, you can also customise other features such as adding a fire strip or changing the track type. This makes our British Gypsum deflection heads extremely versatile.

Fair pricing

We recognise that everybody’s budget is different, and that is why here at Drywall Pro-Cut we offer a wide range of products to fit an even wider range of budgets. Our prices for British Gypsum deflection heads start at £14.87 for our 12.5mm Fireline board. Meaning that you can acquire high-quality deflection heads for not-so-high prices.

Element-resistant

Other advantages include that the material is heat and fire-resistant, as well as being sound-proof. This makes gypsum board a great choice for institutions such as hospitals and schools. Although it is also one of the safest options for homes as well.

Sourced in Britain

British Gypsum also assures us that their plasterboard contributes to better air quality and is sustainably sourced. In fact, most – if not all – of their gypsum is mined, milled and made in Britain!
